Mondiant Initiative

Virtual Internship

Empowering Refugees Through Education and Leadership

Our Mission

Mondiant Initiative is a beacon of hope, a refugee-founded and led organization committed to transforming the lives of bright refugee students through empowerment and education. We aim to provide the same opportunities afforded to much of the rest of the world, a college education and the long-term tools needed to succeed. Our purpose is to extend a hand to the changemakers, visionaries, and future leaders in refugee camps who are ready to make a difference if given the opportunity.

From Refugee to Leader:

Meet Mondiant Dogon

Mondiant Initiative was founded by Mondiant Dogon, a former refugee from the Democratic Republic of Congo. Forced to flee his home due to war, Mondiant spent years in a refugee camp in Rwanda. Despite immense challenges, he pursued education and eventually earned a Master's degree from New York University. His personal journey fuels the initiative’s mission to empower fellow refugees through education and leadership development, ensuring they have opportunities to shape their own futures.

Why This Matters

There are over 100 million forcibly displaced people worldwide, with refugees facing significant barriers to higher education and employment.

Only 6% of refugees have access to higher education, compared to 40% of non-refugee populations

The Mondiant Initiative bridges this gap, providing education, career pathways, and mentorship to ensure that refugees are not just surviving but thriving as future leaders.
